I was looking up Patience and Sarah, of which I hadn't heard before, and I saw that Sarah Waters cites it as an influence...sounds like a must read to me!

I've never read it, but the description sounds beautiful. I love the whole Boston marriage idea from the 1800's, it's fascinating to me - sort of the same thing in Possession if you've read that?
